Compared to the iPad Pro The iPad Air lacks some premium features such as ProMotion technology, a high refresh rate and the highest performance, which makes it a more attractive option in terms of price. In this text we summarize all the current rumors about the coming iPad Air 2025 and show you what you can look forward to.
90 Hz liquid motion panel
Until now, the iPad Air had a refresh rate of 60 Hz, which meant that many users found the display to be less fluid than the Pro models. This led to a less pleasant user experience, especially with animations and scrolling movements. Apple is now planning a compromise solution by giving the iPad Air 2025 a so-called 90 Hz Liquid Motion panel for the first time. This innovation offers a much smoother display and significantly improves the user experience, but without offering the full range of features of the 120 Hz ProMotion technology of the Pro models. This compromise solution represents a good balance between performance and price. Other Apple devices could also be equipped with this 90 Hz technology in the future, including the 24-inch iMac and the Studio Display.
OLED technology in planning
For the long-term development of the display, Apple also plans to introduce OLED technology for the iPad Air, although this switch to OLED is not expected to happen until 2026. OLED displays offer deeper blacks, better color reproduction, and generally higher image quality, which could take the visual user experience to a new level. Rumor has it that Samsung Display will be the main supplier of the OLED panels to provide this new technology for the iPad Air.
New Magic Keyboard
In addition to the new display, Apple is also apparently working on a new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air, which will include a row of function keys for the first time. This addition will improve usability and offer more comfort when writing and working with the iPad Air. The new Magic Keyboard is expected to be launched at the same time as the seventh generation iPad Air and will expand the tablet's productivity features.
No compromise solution for the iPhone 17
Apple will probably forego the compromise solution with the iPhone 17. It is expected that all iPhone 17 models will be equipped with LTPO displays that enable an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. This technology was previously only available on the Pro models. Apple is therefore relying on more advanced display technology for the iPhone 17 to achieve even better image quality and smoother display.
