  • iOS 17 is expected to include new features such as lock screen options, Apple Music changes, and design updates to App Library and Control Center.
  • iPadOS 17 is expected to get the lock screen options from the iPhone.
  • MKBHD has launched its first sneakers called M251 in collaboration with Atoms.

News about upcoming iPhone operating system iOS 17

In the world of Apple news and rumors, there is a lot of speculation about the upcoming iOS 17. It is expected to have a smaller Update with a focus on stability and performance improvements. Still, some new features are expected, such as font size options for the lock screen or a button to share custom lock screen designs with other iPhone users. There is also speculation about design changes for Apple Music with a simplified user interface.

The question that is now on the minds of many Apple fans is: When will iOS 17 be released? Apple is expected to announce the new operating system during its WWDC keynote on June 5. Developers are looking forward to the first beta version of the update right after the WWDC 2023 keynote. A public Beta version is expected to arrive in July. As usual, the update should be generally available in September with the release of the new iPhones 15.

However, it remains to be seen whether the information circulating on the internet is accurate, as Apple usually doesn't reveal details about future products. Some Apple watchers speculate that the company still has some surprises in store for iOS 17 and that there may be more features than previously thought.

iPad OS 17: Will lock screen customizations like on iPhones be available?

Apple will unveil the operating systems for iPhones and iPads, iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, during the WWDC 2023 keynote on June 5. With the release of iPadOS 17, Apple will likely release the lock screen customization options that were previously only available on iPhones on iPads as well. Apple has only introduced the new customizable lock screen for iPhones since iOS 16 - the iPads missed out. When the new feature comes to iPads with iPad OS 17, the unused lock screen on iPads will be ideally used and will likely offer far more features compared to iPhones.

Tech YouTuber MKBHD launches new sneakers

MKBHD, a well-known blogger for technology news and tech news, has launched his first sneakers together with the shoe manufacturer Atoms. The minimalist designed sneaker, called M251, is available in black and red and is made of 100% vegan and recyclable materials. The price for a pair is $189. MKBHD, also known as Marques Brownlee, is known for his Tech news and product reviews. Now he has expanded his business to include an exclusive shoe collection. The shoe is a tribute to MKBHD's first YouTube video from 2008: The video was exactly 2 minutes and 51 seconds long. The shoes include both MKBHD and Atoms logos, as well as a signature from Brownlee on the label and a separate NYC plaque.

WhatsApp: Finally, multiple devices can be used with one number

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to use their account on multiple smartphones at once. The multi-device feature previously allowed users to use the application on Android tablets, browsers or computers in addition to their main phone. The latest addition now allows users to add additional smartphones as well. The company describes the feature as useful for small businesses that may want multiple employees to be able to access the same work number from different phones. However, it is also helpful for anyone who regularly uses multiple smartphones and wants to link them all to the same WhatsApp account.

To use WhatsApp on a secondary phone, you must first install the app on that phone. When setting it up, you then do not choose the option to log in with your phone number, but rather "Link to existing account". This generates a QR code that then has to be scanned by your primary WhatsApp phone by selecting "Link device" in the settings. The primary device you are normally logged in on is not mandatory to receive messages on your other devices. This is also how you are logged out: You are inactive for 14 days or you log out manually. There should be no compromises in terms of data protection: Personal messages remain end-to-end encrypted despite using the multi-device function.
