Google I/O: Ein Blick in die Zukunft der Technologie

Google I/O: A look into the future of technology

The Google I/O is an annual technology event organized by Google. It serves as a stage for presenting the company's new devices and software. This year, attention is particularly focused on the launch of the Google Pixel 8A, the Pixel Watch 3 and the latest version of the Android 15 operating system. Let's take a look at the Goole I/O and see what news awaits us.

Before we start, I would like to emphasize again that the information about the devices' features is based on leaks and rumors and has not yet been officially confirmed by Google.

When is the IO and where does it take place?

Google I/O will take place on May 14th at the Mountain View Amphitheater. This event attracts developers and tech enthusiasts from around the world and offers deep dives into Google's latest software changes and devices. There will be a livestream for the public, which will be broadcast on the Google I/O page. According to the announcement on the site, the live stream begins on May 14th at 6 p.m. German time. Those interested have the opportunity to register on the website and follow the event virtually.

This will be presented at Google I/O

This year at Google I/O, the Google Pixel 8A, Pixel Watch 3 and Android 15 will be in the spotlight. We can expect the biggest changes in the area of artificial intelligence.

Google Pixel 8a with more memory and colors

The Google Pixel 8A has an elegant design in the first images and is said to be available with a choice of four colors: black, beige, light blue and light green. According to information, the housing is made of plastic and glass. Compared to the Google Pixel 7a, it looks significantly more rounded and has softer edges on the frame.

The display of the Pixel 8a is 6.1 inches. At the heart of it will be the powerful Tensor G3 chip, which was already installed in the Google Pixel 8. Together with 8 GB of RAM, it should ensure smooth performance. For the first time, users can choose between 128 GB and 256 GB of storage when purchasing the Pixel 8a. If the Google Pixel 8A lives up to its rumors, it will become an exciting candidate in the smartphone market.

Pixel Watch 3 - In 2 sizes

If Google sticks to its predecessor for the start of sales of the Pixel Watch 3, we can most likely expect a smartwatch in October 2024. The biggest new addition to the Pixel Watch 3 is that it will now be available in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm - an expansion from the previous 41mm size. A Qualcomm processor will probably be used inside. Qualcomm announced a continuation of its collaboration with Google with a chip developed specifically for the watch.

An exciting feature is the introduction of ultra-wideband technology, a first for the Pixel Watch series. This enables more precise location determination than, for example, Bluetooth and improves functions such as “Watch Unlock”. The watch will most likely be operated with WearOS 5.

Touch-sensitive controls in the Pixel Watch 3?

Google has also filed a patent for a new control method for smartwatches. This means users can trigger functions simply by pressing and rubbing the watch frame or tapping the display. This innovation could eliminate the need for physical buttons in the future. However, it still remains to be seen whether this technology will already be used in the Google Pixel Watch 3 or whether we will only see it in the following generations.

Android 15 is creatively named "Vanilla Ice Cream," continuing Google's tradition of naming its Android versions after sweet foods. We show you a short list of the latest Android version names:
